The FLACC scale is used to measure pain originally in young children who were unable to communicate their pain. It has been expanded to many populations with similar communication concerns. Pain is rated on a 0 to 2 scale in 5 categories face, legs, activity, cry, and consolability (FLACC). This has become one of the standard pain assessment tools in healthcare. This scale was developed at The University of Michigan and is a fully licensed product from the university.
